Charlie Barnett back in AFC Telford squad for Solihull clash

AFC Telford United will recall midfielder Charlie Barnett to the squad for today's Skrill Conference North visit of Solihull Moors after the midfielder was left out on Saturday.

Barnett was surprisingly omitted from the 2-1 win at Gloucester City, along with defender Dan Preston, with the latter set to miss out again today with a slight adductor strain.

Chris Lever injuring his knee on Saturday has opened up a space in the squad that will be filled by Barnett, with Matthew McGinn moving from the wing to replace Lever at left-back.

Saturday's match-winner and scorer of the goal at Boston last midweek, Sean Clancy, was surprisingly on the bench at Gloucester and is set to start on the left wing today.

Injury victim Sean Cooke and Barnett, who had just two weeks of pre-season training after leaving Football League club Accrington Stanley in the summer, still trained for an hour on Saturday.

And Watson said: "Charlie will be back in the squad. He's not had much of a pre-season. Both he and Sean Cooke both had a full hour on the pitch. Dan has got a bit of an adductor strain.

"Chris took a bang on the knee and I wouldn't have thought he will be fit for today but, obviously, we have got some minutes into Matthew. He will shift to left-back with no issues.

"For all intents and purposes, I think that Charlie will come into the squad and Chris will probably drop out."

Robbie Booth also made his league debut for the Bucks as a second-half substitute on Saturday, after receiving international clearance from the Football Association of Wales on Friday night.

The Scouser needed his registration released after last playing for Welsh Premier League side Bangor City and Watson admits it has set the wide man back.

He said: "Robbie got it come through late on Friday and he was one that deserved to start on the opening day of the season, but the international clearance killed him.

"It's great to have him back and he gives us an option, the Welsh FA sent conformation and I got the e-mail from our managing director Lee Carter.

"If he had have been ruled out for Saturday, he would have missed today also as they wouldn't be open. Hopefully, he will have a big part to play now. He's got on the pitch straight away, too.

"I don't know how it's taken so long to send a fax, not from the club's point of view but the Welsh FA, seeing as they are only 20 miles down the road."
