Spencer Weir-Daley out to prove a point to Telford
Spencer Weir-Daley has vowed to show AFC Telford United what they are missing when he lines up against them for Boston United.
The former Bucks forward will be looking to gun down his old club at York Street, having found a new home with the Pilgrims since his Telford exit.
The 27-year-old is already off the mark for the season, after scoring in Boston's stunning 4-1 win away at Stockport County on the opening day.
And Weir-Daley would love to play an integral part in the demise of his former employers tonight, having endured an unhappy stint in Shropshire.
He made just two competitive appearances in the space of five months after joining for the 2011-12 season, leaving for Buxton and then on to Boston.
He's scored 21 times in 60 matches since his return to York Street, where he first departed to join Telford.
He said: "Most of their fans didn't really get to see me. The squad there was big and the club wasn't really run well at the time.
"Playing against them will give me a good chance to show them the reason the manager at the time, Andy Sinton, wanted me there in the first place.
"It would be nice to get a goal."
Weir-Daley insists his departure from the New Bucks Head was amicable but he remains desperate to figure against the club that let him go.
He said: "It's the first home game of the season and against Telford, too. The manager and everyone else knows I want to be involved.
"But seeing the fixture list, everyone wants to be in that starting line-up."
