AFC Telford United striker Tony Gray is aiming to hit the goal trail starting tonight against his former club Chester.

Gray helped fire the the Blues into the Conference Premier last season, scoring 11 times in 23 games.

Despite his success at the Deva Stadium he opted to drop back down to the ConferenceNorth with Telford over the summer.

He cited work commitments and the desire to link up with former boss Liam Watson, who he played under at Southport.

And ,after bagging his first goal for his new club in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Skelmersdale United, he is hoping to add to that tally for Telford in the coming months.

He said: "The last few games I have been struggling a bit in front of goal. I haven't had many chances but I was just thankful to see one go in.

"I get most of my goals from inside the box and I think the more games I get, the sharper I will get in and around the box, and more goals will come.

"I think I am getting that sharpness now. I just need a couple more games. Hopefully, I will be starting against Chester and I will get a good run-out.

"I don't set any targets. I just take each game as it comes and hopefully I will end up with a decent figure at the end of the season."

Asked what his ultimate aim for the forthcoming campaign is, he said: "Going up and getting some goals would be the perfect season."

Tonight's game at the New Bucks Head should also see fellow former Chester defender Matthew McGinn come up against his old club, but Wes Baynes looks set to miss out because of a minor hip injury.
