Liam Watson pleased as AFC Telford bite back
AFC Telford boss Liam Watson hailed the character shown by his team in the second half of Saturday's pre-season friendly at Skelmersdale United.
The Bucks chief had been frustrated by his side's unconvincing first-half display at the West Lancashire College Stadium.
But he was pleased with the response, following some half-time home truths, as they clawed back a 1-0 deficit to earn a 1-1 draw, thanks to Tony Gray's 79th-minute finish.
Watson said: "For the first 25 minutes we were second best all over the pitch. You have got to win the physical battle and we were second best, we gave away a sloppy penalty and the back four were just lackadaisical.
"We could have conceded again and there were a few choice words at half-time which I shouldn't be saying in pre-season.
"But if it meant that had to be said to find out about one or two people's characters then so be it, and I thought the response was decent.
"It looked like it mattered to both teams and as much as I wasn't pleased with the performance in the first half I'm pleased with the character in the second half."
