Dosser, who was selected from a shortlist of four candidates for the post, succeeds Lee Carter after a successful nine-year run.

Carter has remained as managing director and he expressed his delight at the appointment of Dosser, who has been at the club as a finance director since 2004.

He said: "Ian is a fantastic appointment. He is a very, very high quality operator who has demonstrated great commitment and passion for the club.

"Since 2004, he has fought hard to ensure that the club has got the best deal it can and he has played a huge role in ensuring that we have evolved year-on-year.

"This is the beginning of a new chapter that will be lead by someone with the club and all its great qualities very close to his heart."

As a finance director, Dosser has overseen the club running at a profit in seven out of eight years.

He was also instrumental in helping the club secure a new longer lease and the development of the five-a-side centre at the New Bucks Head.

And he said he was keen to help the club fulfil its potential both on and off the field.

He said: "I am immensely proud to accept the role and look forward to continuing to challenge myself and others to get the best possible outcomes for the club.

"In my years here, I have been inspired by the passion, commitment and determination of everyone at the football club.

"I look forward to leading the club to ensure that nine years of almost unbroken success is continued.

"I am ambitious to promote and develop the club and see it fulfil its ambitions and potential on and off the field.

"Progress needs to be built over time and be sustainable, but it can and will be done."

He added that the club's first priority on the pitch was to rebound from last season's relegation back to the non-league's top flight as quickly as possible.
