Sean Cooke may miss start of AFC Telford's season
AFC Telford United winger Sean Cooke may miss the start of the Conference North season as he continues to recover from a fractured leg.
The former AFC Fylde player, who joined the Bucks in the close season, has been working his way back from the injury which was picked up at the end of last season.
He missed Telford's first pre-season game on Tuesday, a 3-0 Shropshire Cup semi-final win over Shawbury United.
And. while Watson is confident Cooke will have healed in time for the start of the campaign on August 17, he will not be match-fit having missed the bulk of pre-season.
Watson said: "I don't think he will be ready for the start of the season. I think he will be fit but he won't have had a pre-season.
"I think he will be out for another couple of weeks probably, but it is not one where we are going to rush him.
"He has got a fabulous future in the game, he is only 20 years of age and he will be chomping at the bit to play.
"If it takes us an extra week or so, so be it, because he is going to benefit the football club in the future."
Former Southport winger Robbie Booth, who is currently on trial with Bucks, can provide cover in Cooke's position.
