Ryan Young urges AFC Telford fans to be patient
AFC Telford United goalkeeper Ryan Young has urged Bucks fans to be patient ahead of their opening pre-season match against Shawbury United.
This evening's Shropshire Senior Cup quarter-final, kick off 7.45pm, will represent a first chance for Bucks fans to see several of manager Liam Watson's new summer recruits in action.
The match comes very early into Telford's pre-season programme, which started just seven days ago.
The Bucks have yet to do any real ball work so far, with training sessions focusing primarily on building fitness ahead of the Conference North kick-off on August 17.
Young says the team is looking forward to playing football after three gruelling pre-season fitness sessions.
But the 33-year-old added that fans should not necessarily expect a flawless performance at such an early stage in their pre-season schedule.
He said: "We will go out there to win but it is our first time playing together, so I hope people don't expect us to be like Brazil.
"We will try our hardest to win the match and we are looking forward to getting the ball between our feet but gelling will come in time.
"Eight or nine of us will get 90 minutes which will be good for the lads that do and I think a few trialists will play but the game has come early, so I hope people don't expect too much."
The Bucks will be coming into the match, against a side playing league football four divisions below of Conference North, on the back of a testing boot camp-style fitness session in Apley Woods on Saturday.
