Richard Davies leaves AFC Telford for Barrow

Midfielder Richard Davies has become the latest member of last season's ill-fated AFC Telford team to move on after signing for Blue Square North rivals Barrow.

The out-of-contract 23-year-old has been snapped up on a one-year deal by the Bluebirds.

Davies had been a regular starter for the Bucks in the first half of last season, but his campaign was ended prematurely after he chipped a bone in his ankle in late December.

Barrow beat off interest from Worcester City and Rushall Olympic to secure his signature.

It came following face-to-face talks with manager Dave Bayliss and former Bucks assistant boss Alex Meechan, who is now No.2 at Holker Street.

Davies has become the 15th member of last season's squad to depart the New Bucks Head following relegation from the non-league's top flight.

The Bucks new management team of Liam Watson and Dominic Morley have made it clear they would welcome back any of last year's team in pre-season should they wish to return and fight for a place.

But Morley re-iterated that the Bucks management team understood if out of contract players felt the need to secure their futures by heading elsewhere in the close season.

He said: "We totally understand that people have got to sort themselves out."

Watson has so far snapped nine new signings this summer.
