AFC Telford line up deals for three more players

AFC Telford United manager Liam Watson is closing in on three further transfer targets – and has deals in place with a midfielder and a defender.

The former Southport manager has already made further progress in his overhaul of the Bucks' playing squad earlier this week, with the signing of former Mansfield forward Andy Owens.

And he is hot on the heels of three further potential new recruits as he aims to have his squad assembled in time for the start of pre-season training, which begins on July 2.

Watson has agreed terms with an as-yet-unnamed pair, a defender and a midfielder. He is also waiting on further information from Mansfield boss Paul Cox about a season-long loan of midfielder Godfrey Poku.

Earlier this week, Watson revealed he was on the trail of former Rochdale defender Neill Byrne. He is confident that he is close to assembling the squad required to sustain a promotion push in the Conference North.

He said: "We are not a million miles away from where we want to be. We have agreed terms with a couple of players, a defender and a midfielder.

"I am also waiting on (a response from) Paul Cox regarding a loan deal for Godfrey Poku."

Meanwhile, AFC Telford United's Forza group has announced the Bucks will hold an open day on July 13.

Watson, assistant boss Dom Morley and the squad will be on hand to meet fans.
