The 29-year old hit-man netted 11 times in 23 games in the Blue Square Bet North for his former club last season.

And that was despite struggling to cement a place in the side following his move from Southport.

Now Gray is determined he can enjoy further success in the division next season as he targets a serious push for title glory with the Bucks.

Gray, who's signing was announced on Monday, said: "I am feeling fit and ready to go in pre-season. I signed for Chester in September but I didn't play much in the middle of last season.

"They were on a good streak so it was hard to get a look (in the middle of the season) so I was in and out of the team.

"I was just getting started when the season ended. But I would back myself all the way to perform at this level.

"As long as I get a consistent run in the team that is when I think I am at my best."

His transfer to the New Bucks Head, which saw Telford part with a nominal transfer fee, will reunite him with former Chester team-mates Matty McGinn and Wes Baynes.

They both completed moves to Telford last week, as well as ex-Southport duo Sean Clancy and Simon Grand, who were signed earlier in the month.

Gray is looking forward to working with them again and has been impressed with the quality of signings Watson has been able to bring in since his arrival at the start of the month.

He said: "A lot of the lads they have signed are quality players for that league and I think we will have a serious chance of challenging for the title.

"That's first and foremost and, if anyone did beat us to the title, I think we will stand a good chance in the play-offs."

Other new arrivals at the New Bucks Head since Watson's arrival at the start of the month have included striker Adam Farrell and midfielder Sean Cooke from AFC Fylde and ex-Skelmersdale wideman Mike Phenix.

Goalkeeper Ryan Young and defender Dan Preston, who were both part of last season's squad have been given new deals while 12 of that team have departed.
