Assistant boss Dominic Morley says the Bucks have fended off competition from Blue Square Premier clubs for the former Crewe Alexandra trainee.

He made his mark as AFC Fylde went close to winning promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League.

Cooke – the son of former Shrewsbury Town assistant boss Dave Cooke – is a product of Crewe's renowned academy.

But he joined Evo-Stik Premier side Nantwich in 2011 when he failed to land a professional contract at Gresty Road.

The diminutive winger, 20, boasts an impressive goalscoring record and after switching to the Lancashire side in the closing months of last season he hit the back of the net nine times.

Morley said: "Sean scored quite a few goals for Fylde and he's a winger who can play off the front-man There were a few clubs in for him, including those in the Conference, so he's quite a catch for us.

"We have seen him play quite a few times for Fylde and were very impressed."

Cooke, who has been handed a two-year deal, joins Matthew McGinn, Wes Baynes, Mike Phenix, Sean Clancy and Simon Grand through the door at the New Bucks Head.

Manager Liam Watson and assistant Morley's rebuild gathers pace.
