AFC Telford United midfielder Christian Smith has admitted he would love to remain at the New Bucks Head for next season.

The versatile former Wrexham and York City man joined the Bucks on a short-term deal last month, prior to their trip to Macclesfield Town.

That deal ran until the end of the season and Smith is now waiting to see if he will be offered new terms for the 2013-14 season.

Smith, who had trials with the Bucks in the summer before joining Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Nantwich Town, is hopeful that his stay with the Bucks will be extended.

He said: "I left Nantwich in December and I wasn't playing until JP (caretaker manager John Psaras) gave me a call.

"I was contracted here until the end of the season. Now I am just like everyone else. We'll just see what happens with regards to the new manager.

"But of course I would be open to staying here. It has been great since I have been here.

"Obviously, results have not been what we were looking for but everything else has been great.

"JP has been great, so have the boys so if the opportunity was there to stay I would love to."

Smith missed the last game of the season, a 4-0 defeat at home to Hereford, because he was serving a one-match ban following his sending off in the 3-1 win at Ebbsfleet the previous weekend.
