A clear out is on the cards for AFC Telford boss
AFC Telford caretaker boss John Psaras admitted that there will be plenty of players departing in the summer if he is handed the managerial reins permanently.
Psaras took charge of his final game as temporary boss on Saturday, watching his already-relegated side lose 4-0 at home to sixth-placed Hereford United.
He is one of a number of applicants vying to take on the job full time in the summer.
And he already has a good idea of which players will be retained and which will be shown the door should he be successful.
He said: "I don't think many of the players will be kept here whoever is in charge.
"There are some players here who think they are better than this level but it's proven that they are not, because you have only got to look at the league table.
"There are players that will want to play at Conference North level but maybe they are not good enough either.
"Myself and my assistant, Alex Meechan, have already looked at if we get the job who we would keep and there aren't many at all."
Several candidates are believed to still be in the hunt for the job, with ex-Southport manager Liam Watson the latest to be linked.
Psaras, who led the team for its final nine games of the campaign, said that he would respect the club's decision whoever was appointed.
But he added that he was confident he had the credentials to do the job on a permanent basis.
If successful, he and Meechan would aim to help more youth team players make the step up to first-team level.
He said:"I back my own ability. If the board agree, that is fine. If they don't, then it's their club.
"It's their decision to appoint who they wish, and whoever they wish to appoint I will support them 100 per cent. I understand the club, I understand the community aspect of it.
"We look at the youth team and we are looking to develop the under-21s – if that is going to go ahead – and that is the vision I see for the club.
"If the board want to go down that route, I'm their man."
