Football League hopefuls Mansfield are eyeing up AFC Telford's sought-after No. 1 Ryan Young.

But Bucks' caretaker boss John Psaras is confident Young, 33, will sign a new deal despite the speculation linking him with a move to Field Mill.

Mansfield could offer Young League Two football for the first time in his career as they are well-placed to secure automatic promotion this season.

Negotiations have been ongoing between Bucks' chairman Lee Carter and the player over a contract extension to take Young into his seventh season with Telford and the club are hopeful of completing a deal before the end of the current campaign.

"Yes, there's a lot of truth in it (rumours) and we've known about it for a while but right now he is in negotiations with the chairman over a new deal for next year," said Psaras.

"Ryan's got a good job here and he's done very well. He's level-headed and any offer from a full-time or football league club would have to reflect a deal that would compensate Ryan leaving that job."

Young has been one of the outstanding performers for Telford this season and his manager says the shot-stopper is "absolutely happy" at the club.

Meanwhile, Psaras confirmed that he expected full-back Kris Taylor to be available for selection for today's trip to Ebbsfleet United after red tape held up his return from loan at Hednesford.
