Business as usual at AFC Telford insist caretakers

John Psaras insists AFC Telford's caretaker management team will stress to the Bucks players that "it's business as usual" despite the bombshell departure of boss Andy Sinton.

First-team coach Psaras was told he and assistant manager Graham Hyde would bee stepping up hours before the decision to part company with the former England international was announced by Bucks chairman Lee Carter.

The duo will need to ensure flagging morale on the pitch doesn't take another battering off it from the news of Sinton's exit when they supervise training tonight.

And the former Walsall Academy coach - who was drafted into the Telford managerial team by Sinton two years ago – says he wouldn't rule out forming a permanent partnership with Hyde.

They must first turn the tide of poor results which is threatening to drag the Shropshire back down to the Blue Square North.

Under Sinton's stewardship, AFC Telford have endured their worst non-winning run for 19 years and now Psaras says the caretaker team need to stamp their own mark if improvement is to be made.

"We'll tell the players it's a case of onwards (and upwards) as football is a fluid business," said the coach.

"They'll train tonight with Graham and myself and prepare for the game against Cambridge on Saturday.

"For me it's a privilege to be coaching at a club like this.

"Andy is a very professional guy, he's been around the block for a long time and I am sure he will take a break now and reflect on what he is going to do next."

Stand-in manager Hyde, who was only brought to Telford at the beginning of the month as Sinton's No.2, finds himself in charge and a potential contender for the job Sinton has left.

But he said today he is looking no further than the Cambridge clash.

He said: "It's very disappointing news of course – Andy brought me in three or four weeks ago and it is a sad day for the club when anything like this happens.

"It's difficult, we're on a bad run and Andy has paid the price.

"I will be taking training tonight and concentrating on Saturday's game. But I am not looking any further than that at the moment."

Speculation as to who will replace Sinton, 46, at the Bucks' helm has already begun with a number of out-of-work bosses linked.

They include ex-Stockport County chief Jim Gannon, former Gateshead manager Ian Bogie and ex-Peterborough and Kettering boss Mark Cooper.
