Beating Luton would be 'best ever' for AFC Telford
AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton believes victory over Luton Town at the New Bucks Head would eclipse the club's 'best ever result.'
The Telford boss called his team's 1-0 win over the pre-season title favourites at Kenilworth Road in August the finest in the club's eight-year history.
But if his struggling side could match that impressive triumph this evening, it would be a greater achievement given his side's current form, he said today.
The Bucks start the game a point inside the relegation zone looking for a first win in 14 league games, while Luton are just outside the play-off places with up to three games in hand.
Asked if victory this evening would top August's triumph, Sinton said: "Without a doubt, particularly with the current run that we are on.
"It is going to be tough. I think they are arguably the best side in the league.
"They are coming here quite confident where we are coming in really low.
"It's my job to try to pick the group up (following Saturday's 3-2 defeat to Braintree) but sometimes that has got to come from within them as well."
Sinton added that his players will be convinced they can win but warned that their defending must improve against Paul Buckle's promotion contenders.
The Bucks have conceded within the first seven minutes in their last two games and in three of their last six.
He said: "I can't fault the boys for effort and application but a bit of quality in different areas and the inability to keep things out of the net is costing us."
