Joe Lamplough hopes to seize AFC Telford chance
New arrival Joe Lamplough believes signing for AFC Telford United has given him a second chance at a career in football.
And the 22-year-old has vowed to make the most of his opportunity as he sets his sights on earning a contract with the Bucks.
The versatile left-sided former Hull City, Mansfield and Kettering player, who has been plagued by a number of injuries earlier in his career, joined Andy Sinton's side on non-contract terms late last week.
Lamplough has since been included in both matchday squads for games against Southport and Hereford United, making his debut for his new club in the former as a second-half substitute.
Now he is aiming to build on that experience by establishing himself in the side, saying: "It is a second chance for me. I have had a lot of unlucky injuries.
"That was one of the main reasons for me leaving at Hull. I had a serious back operation and it has taken me a long while to get back.
"I have been here, there and everywhere – Australia, Denmark, Spain but I just want to get playing now. It is definitely not a step back. It is a competitive level. It's a very good level.
"It's a second chance for me to get playing. I just want to be pushing myself and trying to cement myself in the team if I can."
Lamplough, who has also played in a couple of friendly games for the Bucks this season, is also more than willing to be flexible to do so.
He said: "I can play in numerous positions. I came on at left midfield against Southport and I feel I can do job in quite a few positions as and where I am needed
"I can play left midfield, left-back, I can do a job in defensive midfield but my main two would be left back and centre back.
"That is where I played the majority of my career when I was at Hull and the majority of games I have played."
Lamplough's current deal was completed last Thursday and he arrived along with Fleetwood Town midfielder Gerard Kinsella, who has joined the Bucks on a month's loan.
