AFC Telford keeper Ryan Young's tales of the unexpected
AFC Telford must not be afraid to try the unexpected on the pitch as they battle to turn around their recent disappointing run of results, goalkeeper Ryan Young believes.
The in-form Bucks shotstopper has conceded that some of the team are lacking confidence at the moment but it was important that the team does not 'play within themselves' for fear of making mistakes.
Andy Sinton's side have gone seven games without a win in the Blue Square Bet Premier League and have won just one of their last ten games in all competitions.
Young said last Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Hyde had been disappointing and put it down to a couple of costly errors. But he said the team should not be become afraid to try the unexpected in pursuit of victory.
He said: "It is hard when players haven't got much confidence because you are a bit nervous to do things off the cuff, and you play within yourself because no-one wants to make a mistake.
"But (when you try things) that is when you win football matches and we need to win a few games.
"The mood is not great at the moment but you have to bounce back.
"The league is so tight it is unbelievable and we can get out of our situation very quickly."
