Andy Sinton warns AFC Telford stars to keep their cool

Andy Sinton has spoken to his players about maintaining their discipline after his team's dramatic 3-3 draw against Cambridge United on Saturday.

Steven Leslie, Phil Trainer, Steve Jones and Jordan Rose were all booked in a 15-minute second half spell at the Abbey Stadium.

Three of those bookings came just after Telford had taken the lead against the run of play and Sinton was annoyed that two of them – Rose and Jones – appeared to be at least partially for dissent after being adjudged to have committed fouls.

Telford are already without defender Dan Preston due to a six-game ban received following his dismissal and violent conduct during Telford's 1-0 win at Luton Town last month.

The team is also missing several key players due to injury and Sinton said it was important that the team did not pick up needless bookings.

"At 1-0 up you get two people booked for dissent, two key players so they are one tackle away from going off," he said.

"It was hard enough today with 11 men. It's something we need to sit down with people about but I can only tell them."

But Sinton was also pleased with the way the team performed in light of the club's extensive injury crisis, which had led to him bringing in centre-back Liam Chilvers two days before the game as defensive cover.

Sinton said: "For periods of the game we looked like a team just thrown together, which I have to admit that's what we have been.

"But to come here and score three to get a point I think we get a lot of credit."
