AFC Telford charged on Luton melee
AFC Telford and their defender Dan Preston were this afternoon hit by FA charges following an ill-tempered finish to their famous victory at Luton Town.
The Bucks have been charged with failing to control their players while centre-back Preston faces an allegation of violent conduct during Saturday's 1-0 victory at Kenilworth Road on Saturday.
The FA has charged both clubs following the Blue Square Bet Premier League clash in which Preston and Luton's Ronnie Henry were dismissed following a mass melee in the penalty area.
Preston's charge is understood to relate to a separate incident to his sending off and, if found guilty, could result his current three-match ban extended.
Jake Reid was also sent off shortly afterwards after an aerial collision with Lathaniel Rowe-Turner.
Preston, who did not feature in Monday's clash against Stockport County, is already subject to a three-match ban for his dismissal during the game.
A statement released by the Football Association read: "The allegation is that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour and/or violent conduct.
"Both clubs have until 4pm on September 3 to respond to the charge."
It added: "In relation to the same match, The FA has separately charged Luton Town's Jon Shaw and AFC Telford United's Daniel Preston, both for violent conduct in relation to an on field incident which was not seen by the match officials but was caught on video.
"Both players have until 6pm tonight to respond to the charge."
AFC Telford were not available for comment regarding the charges while Luton Town has stated on its website that it will not be making any further comment.
Bucks won the game, which many consider their best result since being reformed, thanks to a header from striker Kieron St Aimie.
