AFC Telford ponder Dan Preston red card appeal
AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton today revealed he may appeal Dan Preston's red card after the centre-back was one of two Bucks players sent off in the 1-0 win at Luton Town.
Striker Jake Reid also saw red just moments after coming as Telford ended the game with nine men, while Luton ended a man light following the dismissal of Ronnie Henry.
And the Bucks boss believes referee John Hopkins may have punished the wrong player with Preston's dismissal. "Danny Preston has assured me he hasn't done anything," said Sinton.
"It may be a mistaken identity so we will have a look and we'll try to get that one overturned."
Telford are unlikely to appeal the red card of Reid after the striker was sent off a minute after coming for leading with the elbow.
Meanwhile, Bucks defender Will Salmon believes Saturday's shock victory at promotion-favourites Luton is proof this season's Telford squad is an improvement on last year's vintage.
The right-back marked his 100th appearance for the club with a landmark win at Kenilworth Road thanks to Kieron St Aimie's first-half header.
And he is adamant the result demonstrates the extra quality now contained within the Telford ranks following a busy summer of ins and outs at the New Bucks Head.
"No disrespect to the boys last year," said Salmon. "But I think this year we are probably a little bit better all round the park and to get three points away at Luton just says it all.
"Luton are arguably the biggest club in the league with a great history and to go there and win, I wouldn't say it was the greatest performance but it is probably the club's best result in terms of where it has come from and the standard of the sides that we are playing against.
"Defensively we did well. We need to be better with the ball but we got the job done and that was what we needed."
