We did it! AFC Telford United secured their place in the top flight of non-league football for another season after a late goal sealed a 1-0 win over Tamworth in front of 3,477 fans at the New Bucks Head.

The Bucks fought valiantly for the win they needed and, despite having to wait until 13 minutes from time for the breakthrough, they stuck to their task and got the three points that will keep them in the Blue Square Bet Premier next season.

Supporters were beginning to wonder if the team would ever scrape over the line but a dewy-eyed Andy Sinton said he never lost faith in his players.

"I always knew these players were good enough to get the job done and I am glad they took their chance tonight. I am proud of every one of them, proud for everyone associated with the club.

"It's been the toughest year of my footballing career and it is great to finally be able to look forward now.

Phil Trainer's late goal sealed the victory, and Sinton was full of praise for the man who always seems to pop up with the dramatic goal.

"People were writing Phil off when I arrived at Telford but he has been absolutely immense since I came to the club.

"He scored the goal that won us the play-off final last year and he has come up trumps again for us tonight."
