No shift in focus as odds tip in favour of AFC Telford United
AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton insists it is 'as you were' at the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier League after his side's home clash with Tamworth was abandoned after 36 minutes owing to a waterlogged pitch.
AFC Telford United manager Andy Sinton insists it is 'as you were' at the bottom of the Blue Square Bet Premier League after his side's home clash with Tamworth was abandoned after 36 minutes owing to a waterlogged pitch.
While the Bucks were frustrated by the weather, relegation rivals Hayes & Yeading were beaten at Luton meaning they now trail Telford by four points with only three matches remaining.
On a day where only Lincoln managed a victory in the bottom nine, Telford's game in hand now means the odds are stacked in the Bucks' favour.
But the Bucks boss remains wary knowing his side now need six points to make mathematically certain of their future.
"It doesn't change our mindset," he said. "I am not sure if it is a plus or a negative to have a game in hand.
"Our destiny is still in our hands. I'm not overly concerned by what happens elsewhere. We have to get our job done."
And Sinton admitted he was trying not to predict the fortunes of others, adding that he was expecting a few twists and turns in the season finale.
"There are no points tallies from us, I'm not into that," he added.
"We have four games left and we will be trying to win them all. Who knows how many points we might need.
"People always pick up points at the end of the season in the last chance saloon."
Meanwhile, Sinton believed the decision by referee Kevin Johnson to abandon yesterday's game was the right one.
There is no confirmed date for the re-arranged fixture.
