AFC Telford United inched another point closer to safety after a 0-0 Blue Square Bet Premier League draw at Newport County.

In a game devoid of goalmouth action Phil Trainer had the best chance for the Bucks when his dipping 30 yard effort was touched over by home keeper Karl Darlow.

Newport had the better of a poor first half but the closest they game to a breakthrough was when Chris Sharp almost put past his own keeper.

The second half was a marginal improvement with Yakubu going close for the home side and Ashley Cain causing problems with his pace.

But the result keeps the Bucks out of the bottom four ahead of Monday's home clash with Tamworth.
