Leading AFC Telford United marksman Chris Sharp is determined to fire the Bucks to Blue Square Bet Premier survival – with a little help from his lucky painter and decorator.

Sharp, who is Telford's top scorer this term with 10 league goals, notched twice in the victory over Forest Green Rovers on Tuesday night and is eyeing more goals when Darlington visit the New Bucks Head tomorrow.

And the 25-year-old, who has just moved home, revealed he needs all the goals he can get to pay for house renovations.

"I have just moved in with my girlfriend and I'm just getting all the stuff sorted," said Sharp.

"I've got the painter and decorator in at the moment. I have to keep scoring to keep paying him.

"When he was last round at our house, when I lived with my parents, he said I had scored that day.

"Last time I saw him I went on a run of goals and he told me I would score on Tuesday and he was right – no doubt he'll be taking some of the credit for that."

Sharp's midweek brace was officially the first time any Telford player had netted twice in a league game, not that he would agree.

"I'm claiming the two against Kettering, even though Phil Trainer is trying to get one of them," said Sharp.

"So that means I have scored two in the League twice and against Gainsborough I scored twice in the Cup, so I want to set that straight.

"But it was just important to get the win in midweek. If we can make it back-to-back wins then it just breeds confidence.

"We've seen Alfreton have gone on a little run and they have just pulled themselves right out of it.

"If we can get three points tomorrow then we will be even further away from danger."

And Sharp, who has found himself playing in a wide-right position in recent weeks, insists he has no problems with not starting in his favoured central role. "It's one of those things," the former TNS hitman said.

"If the gaffer wants me to do a job for the team then I will do it.

"Obviously I scored two on Tuesday and as long as I'm scoring and playing well and the team is playing well then I'm happy."

Darlington hope that attacking midfielder John McReady will be fit to return for the trip to the New Bucks Head.

The youngster sat out Tuesday's 4-2 defeat to Wrexham with a leg muscle strain.

While McReady's injury was too bad for him to play, many Quakers players are showing tremendous spirit in their battle against the odds and several of them are playing despite injuries.

Experienced defender Graeme Lee, on crutches and helping out with the coaching, revealed: "Paul Arnsion has been playing with a calf strain and Ryan Bowman has had a dead leg.

"But they are battling on, as are others who are not 100 per cent fit."
