AFC Telford United boss Andy Sinton admits he would love to follow the Southport blueprint – if the Bucks secure their Blue Square Bet Premier League survival this term.

Ahead of this weekend's clash between the two sides, Sinton said he had cast an enviable glance at the Merseysiders' season.

Southport finished in a relegation spot last season, surviving only because of Rushden & Diamond's demise, yet they now sit just two points off the play-off places.

And that is something Sinton believes could happen to Telford, with the visit of Southport the first of three home games in seven days.

"You can only admire what Southport have done," said the Bucks boss.

"They were relegated last season and were lucky to stay up. They've built on what they had last season and improved.

"They increased the number of times that they were training and they've got the results.

"That is something we can look to do if we stay up this season, which I'm confident we will. It's not rocket science how you can improve."
