Fit-again fans' favourite Jon Adams has recovered from a bout of pneumonia – and declared himself ready to play a part in AFC Telford United's survival quest.
The versatile midfielder has struggled to make an impact for Andy Sinton's men this season and spent time at Leamington earlier in the season.
That move was cut short when the 27-year-old picked up the illness, which threatened to end his season prematurely.
But he will resume light training with the Bucks tonight and hopes to force his way back into the starting XI. "I am on the mend now," said Adams.
"This week I have been doing a bit of work in the gym and I will be joining back in with training.
"I just want to stay at Telford and fight for my place back in the squad.
"I knew I wasn't going to play as much as I did last season and I think a few of us knew that.
"There have been a lot of changes but I want to play for Telford and I want to play at this level. Going out on loan again is not something I want to do. Because of the weather I only played a couple of games for Leamington and there's not long left in the season now anyway."
And Adams added he was relieved to have overcome his illness, admitting it was a difficult period.
"It wasn't something that just happened overnight," he said.
"I hadn't been feeling great for a couple of weeks and I felt a little bit worse every day.
"I was playing for Leamington at Solihull and I went to do a warm-up and I just couldn't do it. It was only the warm-up and I didn't even push myself too hard in that.
"That's when I really knew something was wrong. Once I got it diagnosed it was just a case of resting."
Adams has played more than 200 games for the Bucks since joining in 2007.
Meanwhile, on-loan striker Ryan Brooke has extended his spell with the club until the end of this season.
The Oldham frontman has made two substitute appearances for the Bucks and scored on his competitive debut in the win over Braintree last month.
