AFC Telford United players were today enjoying their final free weekend of the summer – with pre-season training set to start on Thursday evening.

The Bucks will return to the training ground to begin preparations for their first season in the Conference Premier, after winning the North play-off final last month.

Boss Andy Sinton has already added three new faces to his ranks, and expects to complete more deals before the balls and bibs come out next week.

Part-time side Telford have traditionally trained two nights a week but Sinton now plans to throw in a regular third session as they prepare to face full-time professional sides like Luton, Lincoln and Stockport.

"We will do what is necessary to make sure we are competitive," said Sinton. "We will be as fit as any of our rivals."
