Boss Andy Sinton is stepping up his search for new recruits at AFC Telford United – with deals in the offing for FOUR targets.

The Bucks boss already has a verbal agreement in place for a young defender and expects that to go through when he returns from a short holiday in Portugal next week.

But he is also making progress in his pursuit of an experienced striker, a wide midfield player and a goalkeeper to put pressure on regular No 1 Ryan Young.

"We're very close to getting another striker," said Sinton, who has already signed youngster Craig King after his release from Leicester as well as defender Robbie Williams from Altrincham and winger James Reid from Hinckley.

"It's someone who has played in the League and the Conference and I am 95 per cent confident of getting him.

"I'm also speaking to a wide midfield player who has played in the Conference and I'm hopeful of finalising that at the end of my holiday.

"I'm also searching for a back-up goalkeeper and I'm speaking to someone when I get back."

The Bucks are due to return to training in just under two weeks, with their first pre-season friendly coming with a squad game at Rocester on Tuesday, July 5.

Telford have up to nine fixtures arranged for pre-season already, including the Shropshire Senior Cup, but Sinton revealed that he may add one more to that schedule.

"I might look to fit one more game in and I might actually play two on the same day," he revealed.

"We will take one side somewhere and possibly have another game for the players who we are looking at in pre-season so we can get a better idea of what they can do."
