Striker Craig King today checked in at AFC Telford United – joining from Championship club Leicester City to become boss Andy Sinton's third summer signing.
King has agreed a one year deal which includes an option for another 12 months and has been backed by Sinton to make a big impression at the New Bucks Head.
The 20-year-old, who has also had loan spells in the Football League with Hereford and Northampton, had a trial with Telford during the tail end of last season – playing in a squad friendly against Rocester.
"He comes with a good pedigree,"?said Sinton, who has already signed defender Robbie Williams from Altrincham and winger James Reid from Hinckley.
"He's quite a philosophical lad – he realises he has to take a step backward to propel himself forward.
"He's been a bit unlucky at Leicester in that Sven (Goran Eriksson, the Foxes' boss) has gone down the experienced route and some of the youngsters have been pushed out.
"He gives us pace and will be a useful addition to our squad. Hopefully we can help him get back to where he wants to be."
Meanwhile, international forward James Lawrie is staying at Telford after agreeing a new deal that will see him earn as he plays.
The 20-year-old Northern Irishman endured a frustrating first season after joining from Port Vale, making just nine starts and 18 substitute appearances, scoring four goals.
"He's got a deal based on the fact that the more he plays, the more he gets," said Sinton.
"I think he's got a chance and the higher he goes the better I think he will get. If he knuckles down and gets going in pre-season then he could be a big player for us."
