Guiseley call for a strong ref for play-off final
Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick today called for a referee "strong enough to handle" the pressure-cooker atmosphere of Sunday's play-off final at AFC Telford United.
Guiseley boss Steve Kittrick today called for a referee "strong enough to handle" the pressure-cooker atmosphere of Sunday's play-off final at AFC Telford United.
A capacity crowd of almost 5,700 has been forecast for the big clash, as Telford face Kittrick's side for a place in the top tier of non-League football.
And the Guiseley chief — who believes the game should be played at a neutral venue — fears a partisan Bucks crowd could swing the man in the middle.
"It's the biggest game in our history and the only concern I've got is that they put a referee in charge who is strong enough to handle it," said Kittrick.
"The majority of the crowd will be Telford supporters and it's a big occasion for the referee as well as the players — it needs to be someone who will not be swayed."
