AFC Telford United were today handed a mouth-watering FA Trophy clash at home to Darlington - with boss Andy Sinton insisting they can go "all the way" to Wembley.

The last 16 tie on Saturday, February 5 is sure to draw parallels with the old Telford United's 3-0 victory over the Quakers in an FA Cup fourth round replay in 1984-85.

Telford went on to bow out 3-0 to Everton in front of more than 47,000 spectators at Goodison Park that season.

A win over the Blue Square Bet Premier side would leave Telford just two ties away from running out at Wembley for the showpiece final.

The Bucks edged past Blue Square Bet North rivals Eastwood Town with a 1-0 win on Saturday, an Adam Proudlock goal - his 11th of the season - enough to secure the £6,000 prizemoney.

The Trophy looks wide open with a number of big guns - including Blue Square Bet Premier high-fliers Wrexham and AFC Wimbledon - going out.

And Sinton insists: "I've always said I want to go as far as I can in this competition. People say it's a distraction to our promotion ambitions but I don't see it as a distraction at all.

"Games like this keep the momentum going and why can't Telford go all the way? We'll certainly give it our best shot."

Meanwhile, the Telford chief is continuing to work on bringing in new faces to strengthen his squad.

Despite his efforts, he does not expect to complete any deals ahead of tomorrow's trip to Blyth Spartans but is eager to add more cover in certain areas.
