A lot has been made of it by pundits and commentators, and with it being Guardiola, widely regarded as one of the game's best ever managers, it is seen as a strange and unique move.

Certainly a lot more is being made of it compared to when Tony Pulis used the tactic back during his time at West Brom.

Dawson, Olsson, McAuley, Evans was to be Albion's back four a number of times under Pulis, and on occasions the ex-Baggies manager copped a bit of flack for it.

Speaking on part one of Pulis' guest appearance on the E&S' Baggies Broadcast, Pulis joked: "Pep is doing it at the moment isn't he. And Klopp is wearing white trainers and a cap!"
