Alan Peach: We are handling pressure
Content skipper Alan Peach is happy with the start Castlefields have made to their defence of the Salop Shropshire Premier League title.
Peach’s men sit fourth after seven weeks with a big game tomorrow as they play host to third-placed Sir John Bayley.
“We had one blip at Meole Brace but I’m happy with the way things have gone,” said Peach.
“I believe we are up on points on the same time last year so we are heading in the right direction.
“You are there to be shot at when you put on a Castlefields shirt, whether we are defending champions or not.
“Castlefields have won more than any other club so we are a target, but we are handling it quite well.”
Peach knows his men are in for a tough task against Bayley, but also praised Wrockwardine Wood and table-toppers Newport for their early-season form.
“It’s a difficult match because they are a good team with a lot of good players,” he added.
“We will have to be on our top form but we will have a strong team out and I know we are capable of doing that.”
Surprise package Wrockwardine Wood host Hanwood knowing they could potentially take over top spot if Newport drop points at Hanmer.
“My boys have been and continue to be fantastic on and off the green,” said captain Stuart Clee.
“We will just keep plodding along and try to apply ourselves in what I believe is the correct manner as a team.
“At this stage I couldn’t ask for any more off anyone in and around the group but we are aware it is a long old season so let’s see where we are come September.”
St Georges will look to transfer their impressive away form to their own patch when they entertain Meole Brace.
Bottom club Ifton go to Wem USC, who are enjoying a much better start than 12 months ago.
The two sides above Ifton – Bowring and Bylet – meet each other looking to move away from the wrong end.
Burway host Chester Road in the night’s other fixture.
