Summit is still the target for the title-chasers
Skipper Glyn Picknell insists St Georges can take heart from their defeat at fellow Summit League Premier Division title-chasers King George V.
The Telford side slipped a place to third after going down 8-2 (163-155) to the team who replaced them in second.
But Picknell believes his team were not far away from a far better result and can go into Monday's reverse fixture with confidence.
He said: "We had a bit of bad luck because we put in a good performance, but just came up short.
"We had two winners but three of the games we lost 21-20. I was our worst loser and that was only 21-17.
"They have gone above us but with the return next week we should be able to get back above them.
"They are a good side but, if we play as we can, then I'm sure we can get the win."
St Georges are five points adrift of table-toppers West Brom FSC, but have their destiny in their own hands.
Picknell added: "We still have to play West Brom twice as well as King George next week so it is down to what we do. It's all set up nicely for a great end to the season."
Callum Wraight and Glyn Herbert were the only Castlefields winners as they went down 8-2 (145-138) in their Premier League clash at the George.
But, again, it was a case of what might have been as the visitors had four players who suffered narrow defeats.
Wrockwardine Wood were whitewashed 10-0 (168-96) in their Feeder A trip to Dudley Dell.
Skipper Martin Williams won MVP for the visitors for his 21-17 defeat to Peter Withey.
John Lumsden turned in the star performance for Hadley USC as they brushed aside Three Magpies 8-2 (163-123) in Feeder B to keep their outside title hopes alive.
Lumsden, one of six winners for the hosts, eased past Adam Kirby 21-3 to pick up his side's MVP and biggest win.
There were also 21-15 wins for Hadley's Robert Fuller, Ashley Gregory and Nick Mullinder as the hosts clocked up a big aggregate success.
Sir John Bayley sit comfortably in mid-table in Division Two after notching up a 7-3 (148-125) home win against Ye Olde Knowle.
Craig Baugh was the home side's biggest winner with a 21-5 victory over Susanne Green but the Bayley MVP went to John Potter, after he saw off James Kernick 21-15.
