Shropshire Star Cup holders Chester Road retained the main trophy with a 27-chalk victory over Adderley at Hodnet on Saturday night.

League newcomers Ruabon completed a stunning hat-trick.

The Division Seven champions and Jubilee Doubles winners won a nail-biting President's Cup final against Hadnall just up the road at Joules BC in Market Drayton.

The Welsh side had just five winners from the 12 games but, thanks to skipper Steve Robinson's 21-7 card and two 20s, in defeat they won by three chalks.

That meant a second successive defeat in the final for Hadnall.

Kerry Dance was a 21-11 star for them early on but Ernie Garrett's 21-9 win in the back four was not quite enough.

Alan Purcell's 21-7 helped the Roaders to a 27-chalk lead off the first four in their fifth successive appearance in the final, quickly followed by Kevin Jones with a 21-2 romp to extend the lead to 48.

County Consolation Cup winners Adderley took three of the last four with Carl Preece their coppers-winning best with 21-12.

But Chester Road were home and dry. Presentations were made at Hodnet by county president Mike Potter.
