Shrewsbury Town swoop to complete shock free agent signing
Shrewsbury Town have confirmed the signing of former Wycombe Wanderers midfielder David Wheeler.
The 34-year-old, who left Adams Park at the start of this month, joins Salop until the end of the season.
When Wheeler left the Chairboys, he was immediately linked with a move to Shropshire due to his relationship with head coach Gareth Ainsworth.
Yet the Town boss said despite trying to get the experienced man to the Croud Meadow, a move for him was not going to happen.
But now, after injuries to Taylor Perry and Leo Castledine, the veteran midfielder - who can also play on the wing - has put pen to paper to join Salop’s survival bid.
Wheeler is an experienced campaigner who made more than 200 appearances in Buckinghamshire after joining Wycombe back in the summer of 2019.
