Debrief: Shrewsbury Town come crashing back down to reality
After a superb start, Shrewsbury Town came crashing back down to reality with defeat at home to Blackpool.
It was a brilliant victory in Gareth Ainsworth's first game in charge against Birmingham City, and it left Shrewsbury fans with optimism for a brighter future.
But that hope came to a shuddering halt on Wednesday evening as they were beaten 2-1 by Steve Bruce's Blackpool.
Salop were excellent in their opening game against Blues as they won 3-2 at the Crowd Meadow, and if they could do it against them, then surely they can beat anyone in this division.
But that optimism was short-lived, as they fell to their 12th defeat of the league one season, which also saw them slump to the bottom of the division ahead of a huge trip to Cambridge this weekend.
