Oswestry Mayor, Councillor Paul Milner, was so impressed with the achievements of The New Saints first team, its women's team and the newly formed Oswestry FC that he has organised a parade and civic reception for June 25.

The Ifton Brass band will lead the noon parade with TNS youngsters walking behind and then an open air bus bringing up the rear with the footballers on board.

There will be a meet and greet session in Cross Street before roads are closed for the parade to continue through the town to the Parish Centre.

Trophies will be displayed during the afternoon.

The New Saints won the Welsh Premier League, the Welsh Cup and the Word Cup last season, while its women's team also clinched three major titles.

The newest local club, Oswestry Town FC, also won three cups.

Councillor Milner said: "For three Oswestry teams to do so well in one season is and incredible feat. I wanted to showcase how well football is doing locally and thought it would be great to have a civic reception for the clubs."
