It's trophy time for cricketers
More than 120 juniors and parents packed into Worfield Cricket Club night to celebrate a successful junior season.
Club spokesman Nick Plain said: "Worfield fielded a record nine teams across boys and girls cricket in 2015 with sides ranging from under-nines to under-15s.
"And for the first time we welcomed children from school year one to coaching on a Friday evening. This proved to be a huge success with many six and seven-years-olds making their debuts in four under-nines Worcester League festivals played throughout the season.
'"A massive thank-you must go to junior co-ordinator James Parker for all his hard work. From May to July it seemed there was a cricket game on at Davenport Park every evening.
"I know the plans are well under way for next season."
Each team manager gave awards for batting and bowling averages and a player of the season. These were presented by club president David York.
The under-13s girls team also displayed their Shropshire League winner's trophy.
The final award, the John Hammersley trophy, went to Harriet Rollason – the first girl ever to win it.
In an extraordinary season she represented seven Worfield sides, two county teams and played for the national under-13 side in the Malvern Festival.
