County swimming bosses release new yearbook
Shropshire Amateur Swimming Association bosses have released the organisation's first ever yearbook as part of a drive to celebrate achievement and encourage greater participation in the sport.
The publication, which has been created in partnership with Telford-based publisher Kidz in Focus, aims to provide a comprehensive insight into all aspects of the sport taking place within in the county.
Among the many details that have been including in the inaugural document are results from this year`s county club and schools championships.
It also includes a range of interviews and articles about the many swimming-based activities that are available throughout Shropshire, and it also contains a detailed directory of the 11 swimming clubs based in the county.
Mandy Garrott, who is the Shropshire ASA Development Officer, said that there had been several reasons for the book's creation, one of which was to encourage more people to take to the pool and try the sport for themselves.
She said: "The publication is designed to celebrate the sport and encourage more participation through the clubs and associated activities for all age groups.
"It is also importantly designed to recognise the governing body and technical support staff, whose invaluable and voluntary contribution make the sport available to so many."
She added: "We are delighted with the finished product and we are very grateful to Kidz in Focus for their professional help and guidance in delivering the yearbook".
Copies of the yearbook are set to be distributed to the clubs and organisations that are connected with the Shropshire ASA in the near future. Newport Swimming Club have been among the first recipients to receive the book at an official handover at their club base.
For further information about the book people are asked to contact their local swimming club.
