Quigley books ticket in dramatic style
Whitchurch showjumper David Quigley has booked his ticket for the Horse of the Year Show in Birmingham.
Quigley grabbed one of the qualifying spots for the Horse & Hound Foxhunter final at the Arena Uk in Grantham.
An incredibly large field of 90 competitors were hoping to secure their place at the prestigious show, which takes place at the Genting Arena from October 7-11, and just 17 of them managed to progress as far as the third and final round having jumped clear in the previous two.
An incredible finale saw Quigley, riding his seven-year-old bay gelding EIS Datero H, and Morgan Kent from Wetherby, West Yorkshire, on board 10-year-old bay gelding Furioso, tie for first place.
Quigley set the benchmark when he posted a time 33.96 seconds and then saw his chances of outright victory dashed when Kent matched that effort in the final ride of the day to share the spoils and book his final place.
