Shropshire duo are now unbeaten in 25
Holly Mowling and Cheryl Heath extended their unbeaten run to 25 matches as Shropshire ladies clinched the Group Seven title at the Aegon Summer County Cup.
The duo were victorious in all 10 of their games at the tournament in Tunbridge Wells to add to the 15 they won in 2014.
Their achievement capped off a great week for the team, who won all five of their fixtures to seal an instant return to Group Six after relegation last year.
Team captain Mowling said: "You don't see many pairs going unbeaten for two years so it's quite an achievement for the team and for us.
"A lot of the juniors these days all just smack the ball as hard as they can and don't really have a clue how to play doubles.
"Myself and Cheryl are both in our 30s so we have the experience of knowing how to change things up if we need to.
"A lot of the players we come across are younger than us and they're just used to playing against people who just hit the ball hard all the while."
Shropshire went into their final game on Friday against Wiltshire with both counties having already clinched promotion.
But it was Shropshire who secured a 2-1 success in a clash shortened because of rain to secure the title.
Mowling added: "Group seven is the hardest one to get out of because it's the biggest group, with seven in there and only two getting promoted.
"We had played quite a few of the teams before so we knew a bit about them. We've played Hereford & Worcester a few times and had really close matches, so to get that win against them was the big one.
"They have been changing the format over the last few years and it's just starting to settle down now. Hopefully, now we're out of group seven we will stay out of it."
Shropshire's celebrations were dampened a little with the journey back from Kent taking NINE hours.
Mowling added: "We left at 1pm and didn't get back until 10pm," added Mowling. "It was the most horrendous journey of my life!"
