Telford's Freddy Hall swaps Braintree away for Bahamas
AFC Telford United goalkeeper Freddy Hall is delighted with his latest call-up to the Bermuda national team.
And the 30-year-old insists he and his team-mates can make an impact on the international stage during the 2018 World Cup qualifying campaign.
Hall has been called up for a two-legged clash against Bahamas later this month, which will form the next step towards qualifying for the CONCACAF World Cup qualifying groups.
And he said: "It is always an honour to represent my country. I enjoy it every time and we have a good group of players so it should be a good time.
"Bermuda is a small country but the set-up is good because they have really invested a lot in the infrastructure.
"There are a lot of good quality players coming through. It is not as good as England or one of those big countries like that but it is definitely, for the Caribbean, a very good set-up.
He added: "We want to go as far as we possibly can and this group of players is a very talented bunch, A good proportion are playing in the USA and it is nice mix. Hopefully as a team we can create some history."
Hall was one of 13 overseas players named in the team, which looks set to be captained by his close friend, Huddersfield Town striker Nahki Wells.
They will face Bahamas away on March 25 with the return leg four days later, and Hall will face competition for the number one spot from Stoke City prospect Dale Eve.
No worries
Whoever gets the nod to start between the posts, the trip will see Hall away from the New Bucks Head for just over a week.
That will see him miss Conference Premier matches against Braintree away on March 24 and Dover away on March 28.
And Hall admitted to feeling conflicted about taking time out of the Bucks' battle against relegation.
But he is confident that the team has solid cover in goalkeeping coach and Bucks assistant Andy Pryce and James Montgomery, who joined on non-contract terms last week.
He said: "I am definitely conflicted. I really want to keep on pushing with Telford and we are at the stage now where we need all the points we can possibly get but It is always an honour to play for Bermuda.
"If Andy is playing for Telford I have no worries at all, but James has been around the team a few times as well.
"He is a good goalkeeper as well, and I have no worries about him either."
