Shrewsbury Town 0 Wolves 1
A Bakary Sako penalty six minutes from the end of normal time sent Shrewsbury Town to an unfortunate defeat against local rivals Wolves.
Town had been edging an entertaining encounter, which was the first league meeting between the sides since 1985.
But Wolves snatched the points after midfielder Jon Taylor was adjudged to have handled Matt Doherty's effort on the goal line.
Taylor was shown also shown a red card as a result.
It was rough justice for the hosts, who had been the better side overall.
Earlier on Town goalkeeper Chris Weale had been forced into a good early save from Sako in the first half.
But Aaron Wilidg, John Taylor and Ryan Woods all tested Wolves custodian Carl Ikeme's reflexes with strong efforts at the other end.
Bjorn Sigurdarson went close for Wolves on two occasions though before the break, the second effort a powerful header which was turned onto the post.
Sako also flashed a very inviting cross right across the face of Town's penalty area shortly before the interval, but no one in a gold shirt made the run.
Curtis Main then missed a huge chance for Town on the hour mark, somehow firing over the bar from Taylor's cross before Sako struck the late winner for the visitors.
