Shropshire's Tracy Ryan and Angela Gaut make bowls history

Tracy Ryan and Angela Gaut made bowls history by featuring in an all-Shropshire final of the women's singles at the Isle of Man September Festival.

It was Ryan who won the battle of the Wrockwardine Wood team-mates 21-17 yesterday at Nobles Park in Douglas, but both ended up with the same prize money.

The club-mates decided to split the first-place cash out of total prize money of £4,680, each receiving £800 for their stunning efforts during the week-long event.

And Gaut's husband Allan and Clay Flattley (St Georges) also reached the last eight for finals day in the men's singles (full story on Tuesday).

n Leaders Meole Brace saw their lead at the top of the Flowfit Shropshire Bowling League cut after they were defeated 9-5 at Bowring while Newport won 10-4 at Ifton.
