Shropshire's premier bowler Callum Wraight has added to his success story – by landing the county's most prestigious prize.

Castlefields' Wraight was in imperious form as he claimed the Meole Brace Open in front of a crowd of around 300 yesterday, landing the £1,100 first prize and a ticket to the Champion of Champions.

The 2010 All England champion and last year's Shropshire Merit victory wrapped up the title with a 21-14 final victory over the pre-tournament favourite, Chris Brown on Lower Hopton.

"Callum bowled as everybody knows he can and was a credit to bowls," said tournament organiser Barry Jennings.
