Positives to come out of the day - knowing that we could get goals from different sources, not just relying on the well-marshalled Adam Proudlock for goals. We also got a glimpse of the Brown-Proudlock combination, though at this stage it is too early to say, just how effective it will be.
Knowing their styles of play though, they could certainly become a very potent combination, should Browny be able to rectify his slump in front of goal, particularly from the penalty spot.
For some reason, all of our forwards seem to have taken to shuffling up to a penalty, allowing the keeper that extra split second to make his decision on where he is going.
Of late I think that's four penalties we have missed, and the worry is these will result in lost points, lost games and lost revenue.
Saturday saw us start brightly, before retreating into our shells a little after wasting a superb early chance, after Carl Rodgers and Greg Mills had combined well to spring the offside trap, when Mills telegraphed the location of his finish and the keeper was able to make a fairly routine save.
That apart, Mills had a superb afternoon, terrorising the right side of a steely Corby side, from his left wing position. Also pleasing to see was the way time and again, he linked up with Newton, in what has to go down as one of his best performances in a Telford shirt.
Long may this continue. Coupled with this, was the effectiveness of Will Salmon and Jon Adams down the right had side enabled the Bucks to spread the play about confidently, not needing to rely solely on one approach avenue.
There is still room for improvement, but the signs do look good for the long run, and continuing to look at strengthening the squad can't be such a bad thing - as long as when they are called upon, these squad members have the quality to take us onwards and upwards!
