AFC Telford United defender Martyn Naylor could be on the verge of a move to Blue Square Bet North rivals Stafford Rangers.

Stafford's newly-appointed manager Tim Flowers, the former England goalkeeper, has served seven days' notice for the 33-year-old right-back.

And Telford boss Andy Sinton could be willing to waive that notice period, with Naylor having dropped below Will Salmon and Ashley Woolliscroft in the pecking order.

"Martyn is on non-contract terms so he will be able to negotiate a deal with them if he wants to," said Sinton.

"He's not been getting a look in here this season because Will Salmon has been doing so well and has been so consistent."

Meanwhile, Sinton reported positive news on the health of his four main injury doubts.

Striker Andy Brown is expected to play some part in training tomorrow morning, though it may be too soon for him to come into contention for the starting line-up to face Workington on Tuesday.

"We don't want to rush him and Tuesday may be too soon," said Sinton.

"He's done the basic stuff in training but he's not done any football-specific work."

Brown's strike partner Alex Meechan is also back running after being laid low by back spasms, though Sinton believes he is further away from a playing return.

Centre-back Stuart Whitehead is also making faster than expected progress from a hamstring injury.

He should train tomorrow and could be in contention to face the Cumbrians next week, along with full back Sean Newton, who is recovering from a calf strain.
