Unbeaten AFC Telford United today issued a defiant message to their Blue Square Bet North rivals, with boss Andy Sinton declaring: "We're going to get better."

The Bucks put the disappointment of their loss on penalties to Buxton in the FA Cup behind them on Saturday, extending their unbeaten league record to 11 games with a 0-0 draw at title favourites Alfreton.

That result saw Boston leapfrog Alfreton into top spot, though Sinton feels Telford just need to believe in their own ability a little more to start turning the draws into wins and boost their own challenge.

"I'm not going to say we're going to win the league but I really think we have a group of players capable of challenging," he said.

"I keep saying it to them, to the press, but I've asked them: Do they really believe it?

"I think we can become another 10 or 15 per cent better. No-one can beat us at this moment and we just have to get that extra belief to push on."

Sinton also took heart from a determined defensive display at the Impact Arena which showed Telford can scrap as well as playing a pretty passing game.

"Not many teams will take points off Alfreton, they make it very difficult," said Sinton. "They're competitive all over the park, they're up and at you and they've got some good players. They steamroller teams by battering them into submission.

"For us to go to there and get a point sends out a message. It says we're still unbeaten, we're hard to beat and we're hard to break down. People know we're a really good football side but what we're showing now is that we can battle as well when the pitches start chewing up a little bit."

Danny Carey-Bertram, on loan at Hednesford, did not play in the 2-1 FA Trophy defeat to Whitby as Telford did not want him to be cup-tied.
